While the Israelites traveled in the wilderness, the Lord went before them to search out the places for them to pitch their tents. The Lord told Moses to make two silver trumpets to call the congregation and to direct the movement of the camp. When the priests blew the first trumpet, and then blew the second trumpet, the Israelites moved out on the journey, and the Lord led them. (Numbers 10:1-10, Deuteronomy 1:33)
Jesus pitched his tent among us to dwell among us. He has gone to prepare a place for us, and is coming back for us. We now live in the earthly tents of our bodies, and groan to be clothed with the eternal houses made by God. (John 1:14, John 14:3, II Corinthians 5: 1,2)
In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
